Have you ever stumbled upon somewhere that you had no idea existed? Whether its near home, or halfway around the world, finding places or things that take your breath away is an incredible feeling. I have put together a list of attractions, some I have been to, others I only just discovered, but these are incredible places, or attractions that you may have never heard of, but you should definitely go to, enjoy!
- Sacre-Coeur in Montmartre, Paris (France): My absolute favourite place in France! Sacre-Coeur is the most gorgeous Basilica that I have ever seen, dare I say, it is even better than Notre-dame- not even slightly kidding! Loca
ted in the ‘artist’s village’ of Paris, gorgeous Montmartre’s centre, is a workout to get to, just follow the staircases’, but it is so worth it! We stayed in Montmartre, when in Paris we did all of the typical tourist things but on the last night my parents persuaded me to come for a walk around, boy am I glad they did! as you walk through the doors this gorgeous picture of Jesus is plastered, literally over the ceiling- it’s huge! The artwork beckons you In and definitely takes your breath away! But if that isn’t enough to take your fancy, when you are finished exploring the Basilica, the moment you walk out of the doors, you are blessed with the most
gorgeous view of Paris that you have ever seen. You stand at the sheer top of the staircase and take in everything around you. Our last night in Paris we sat in front of Sacre-Coeur on the top of the staircase, my parents drinking beers, and watching the sunset, literally over Paris! Just imagine.
2. Saint Kitts and Nevis, Caribbean: This two-island nation is enriched with natural and man-made beauty. It’s crystal clear water, gorgeous green hills and rich history and culture is so breathtaking and incredible that you won’t want to leave! From the bustling Basseterre to the Brimstone hill fortress, Frigate Bay and Mount Liamuiga, what’s not to love about this relaxed picture-perfect holiday destination? Just hold on, I have to pack my bags!!!!
3. Rabbit Island, Kep (Cambodia): Kep Province is gorgeous in itself, famous for its seafood, vibrant culture, and friendly locals. When I went to Cambodia, on the very last day, we suppressed the heat of our two week vacation by taking a 30min boat ride to Rabbit Island. Upon arrival we were blessed by this gorgeous two storey bamboo structure in amidst lush green forestry. It reminded me of a scene from a movie such as pirates of the Caribbean. All of a sudden our guide lead us on this little goats track and after a 5min walk we were blessed with the most stunning view I had ever seen, crystal clear, blue waters, palm trees on the beach and small bamboo huts. Although no specific activities on rabbit Island, the day was well spent lazing on the beach in hammocks, getting the odd massage- literally on the beach, and floating on a blow-up tube. For those of you who do not succumb to the laid back lifestyle, perhaps you would prefer the rugged bushwalk around the island that would, I’m sure make for more beautiful views and memories. The best part about this slice of heaven is perhaps the fact that the whole day that we spent there, there was not one other tourist insight, it is so untouched and recluse, and that’s what makes it so unique and special!
